2 dead in Thanksgiving Day car crash of over 100 vehicles

Texas readers will be familiar with the story of a huge traffic pile-up that took place on Thanksgiving Day. Over 100 vehicles were involved in the incident. Authorities believe that one car crash on the eastbound portion of Interstate 10 led to a series of chain reaction accidents on both sides of the Interstate.

As of the time of this report, 12 individuals remain hospitalized and two have lost their lives in the crashes. The two deceased individuals were a couple on their way to Louisiana for a vacation at area casinos. Their children told reporters that this was the first year that the family would not be together for Thanksgiving.

The crash scene in this case was massive, with some cars stacked on top of each other in a pile of twisted metal. Clearing the scene took a considerable amount of time, and heavy fog in the area made the investigation even more difficult. Authorities are working to determine whether charges will be filed in the matter, and a report is expected to be issued outlining the causal factors in the case.

For the family of the couple who died in this terrible car crash, the grieving process is just beginning. Their attentions are likely not yet focused on determining who may have been at fault in the Texas crash, and they will probably depend heavily on the support of friends and family to get through the rest of the holiday season. However, if the investigation does determine that someone’s negligence led to this tragic course of events, the family will retain the right to move forward with a wrongful death suit in the matter.
