One of the most dangerous things a driver can do is get behind the wheel of a car after drinking too much. We all know that intoxication can slow a person’s reaction time, cause blurred vision and lead to poor decision-making. All of these things can lead to a serious car accident. Unfortunately, many people in Texas still choose to drink and drive.
Not too long ago, in fact, one man attempted to leave a Plano bar after allegedly having a few drinks. According to KDFW, the driver hit four people outside the Hangout Bar & Grill. Making the situation even worse, he fled the scene without assisting the people he injured.
Of the four people who were hit, two suffered injuries that could be life-threatening. The other two suffered minor injuries and did not need to be taken to a hospital. Fortunately, police were able to track down the driver. So far, he has been charged with causing an accident involving injury and DWI. Those injured by his negligent actions, however, may want to consider their legal options as well.
If you have been injured by a drunk driver, you could be facing expensive medical bills, a long recovery period and, sometimes, lifelong injuries. When these problems are caused by someone who was clearly negligent, you have the right to seek compensation from that person through a personal injury lawsuit. Your physical suffering shouldn’t be compounded by financial hardship. An experienced personal injury attorney can help you better understand your options.
