When driving long distances, it may cross one’s mind that an accident is possible. However, to be involved in a car crash before one has even left home seems inconceivable. Nevertheless, the family and friends of a 52-year-old Texas man are in shock following an accident that took his life right in front of his house.
The accident occurred around 3 p.m. one afternoon when police noticed a pickup truck swerving in the road. When the officer attempted to stop the truck, the 20-year-old driver accelerated and lost control of the vehicle. The truck slammed into the smaller pickup driven by the man who was just leaving his house.
Witnesses say the driver attempted to run from the scene but was apprehended by police. When the officer went to check on the victim, he saw that the man was pinned in the truck. Rescue workers could not save the man, and he died at the scene. Texas police say the driver believed responsible seemed to be under the influence, and he was charged with intoxication manslaughter.
Neighbors say the victim was kind and friendly, and they worry about the loss his family will feel. Those who lose a loved one in a car crash must face both emotional and financial suffering. Funeral expenses and the loss of income may leave a family reeling. Many in Texas find that the help of a personal injury attorney is invaluable. By seeking possible compensation from the one responsible for the accident, a family may be able to focus on their healing.
