In Texas and elsewhere, motorcyclists will always be vulnerable. Some drivers fail to keep a lookout for bikers — often with devastating consequences. Because a motorcyclist does not have the protection of a steel frame, safety belt and airbag, any collision could be deadly. Houston police are currently investigating a fatal accident that claimed the life of a motorcycle rider.
According to a preliminary report, the accident occurred on a recent Wednesday. It is alleged that a vehicle pulled into the path of an oncoming motorcycle after the driver failed to yield at a stop sign. The motorcyclist was unable to avoid a collision and smashed into the car.
The 27-year-old biker suffered fatal injuries at the accident scene. The driver of the car suffered injuries of unknown severity, and he was transported to a hospital. Officials said they observed no signs of intoxication in the driver, and no charges were filed at the time. However, the investigation has not been completed yet.
The surviving family members after the tragic death of this motorcyclist may have to face difficulties with the expenses of end-of-life arrangements and the sudden loss of income. However, financial relief for this fatal accident may be pursued through the Texas civil court system. A wrongful death claim may be filed against the vehicle driver and any separate owner of the car. Once the court has determined financial liability based on the proof of negligence, a monetary judgment may be considered to cover documented losses. These may include both financial and emotional damages.
