Fatal car accident in Texas claims lives of 2 sisters

A Texas man is facing homicide charges after allegedly causing a car crash on Jan. 14. The 30-year-old driver was arrested for his involvement in a fatal car accident that killed two sisters and injured at least one individual. In lieu of $20,000 bond, he was reportedly remanded to the Hidalgo County Jail.

According to police reports, at approximately 7:45 that Saturday morning, the man was driving his pickup truck south on Farm-to-Market Road 490. As he drove around a bend, his pickup crossed into the northbound lane. This resulted in a head-on collision with an oncoming Nissan Sentra that contained four passengers, per police reports.

Two of the passengers were sisters, a 40-year-old and a 30-year-old. They were riding together in the back seat of the car and were both critically injured in the accident. After being transported to two separate local hospitals, both women later died from their injuries. The driver of the Nissan was treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital. There have not yet been any reports on the condition of the Nissan’s fourth passenger.

The driver of the pickup truck is facing criminal charges, including two counts of criminally negligent homicide. Apart from any criminal proceedings, the grieving families of the women killed in the fatal car accident may pursue wrongful death lawsuits against him.
