Multi-vehicle fatal accident on I-10 leaves 2 dead, 2 injured

Traffic was closed for hours on Interstate 10 close to Vidor after an 18-wheeler collided with two trucks on Tuesday, Jan. 10. The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the multiple vehicle crash at approximately 12:15 p.m. Sadly, the fatal accident left two people dead and two more injured.

An Isuzu flatbed truck was headed west on the interstate in the inside lane when the driver slowed down for upcoming traffic. As the truck began to decrease its speed, a Kenworth tractor semi-trailer read-ended it. The semi then crossed the concrete divider and entered eastbound traffic, where it struck an oncoming Ford pickup in a head-on collision.

The Isuzu driver was treated for minor injuries at the crash scene. The tractor-trailer driver was taken to an area hospital by ambulance; his injuries were reportedly serious. Sadly, both the passenger and driver in the pickup were declared dead at the scene of the accident.

While results of any investigations into the cause of the fatal accident have not yet been released, details at this time seem to indicate responsibility on the part of the driver of the Kenworth driver. If anyone in Texas has lost a loved one due to the fault or negligence of another party to an accident, he or she may benefit from contacting an attorney with experience in wrongful death lawsuits. Monetary damages awarded in successfully presented cases can be used for funeral expenses and toward the grieving family’s pain and suffering over the loss of their loved one.
