Cases involving box truck accidents in Texas are different than other truck accident cases. Why? Because inexperienced truck drivers often operate box trucks. These trucks—also referred to as cube trucks, cube vans, box vans, or straight trucks—can be rented to transport oversized goods or put into use by an inexperienced delivery driver. When inexperienced drivers get behind the wheel, they can cause deadly or serious injury consequences. Especially since these large trucks have low visibility, long stopping distances, and a heavy weight.
At Ted Lyon Law, we have the extensive experience necessary to hold box truck drivers accountable for the damage they cause. For four decades, our truck collision lawyers have represented people hurt by box trucks and other dangerous commercial vehicles. We help them by bringing personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits in Texas state and federal courts.
What Should You Know About Box Trucks?
Box trucks are some of the most common trucks found on roads in the United States. These big, square vans often have roll-up doors in the back and are used as moving vans or delivery trucks. Box trucks can come in several different sizes. The largest box trucks weigh about 33,000 pounds—a tremendous weight that makes a critical impact when involved in an accident with a smaller vehicle.
The height and weight of a box truck make it likely to be involved in a rollover accident in Texas. In a typical scenario, a truck driver stops too quickly or swerves too sharply, and the entire truck flips over. Blind spots are also a leading cause of box truck accidents. Drivers of box trucks have limited visibility. They often fail to see other drivers on Texas roads.
