Texas car accident kills child

An early afternoon car accident has taken the life of one child and sent four others to the hospital. According to Texas police, the automobile accident occurred around 3:45 p.m. Police have stated that at that time, a minivan, which was attempting to pass through Highway 46, was struck on the side by another vehicle.

As a result of the crash, one child in the van was pronounced dead. The child’s name and age have not been disclosed by police. Meanwhile, four others in the van were hurt. Police have stated that at least two of these people were transported by air.

The occupants of the other vehicle are believed to have not sustained any injuries. Both Texas Sheriffs and Texas Troopers have been working the scene of the accident. No details have been released at this time as to who was at fault. Police have also not indicated whether they anticipate that they will be filing any criminal charges in the case.

As Texas authorities uncover more details surrounding this deadly car accident, the cause of the accident and who was at fault may become clearer. Although there is no way that a family can be fully compensated for such a grievous loss, they retain the right to pursue a wrongful death claim on behalf of the deceased child. Further, those who suffered injuries caused by the negligence of another party have the right to seek reimbursement for monetary damages incurred. These decisions necessarily await the results of a full investigation, and those involved would likely gain by seeking advice in regard to their rights under Texas law.
